Forward march of PNM cannot be obstructed by petit moves! – Ven. Dhambara Amila Thera

Ven. Dambara Amila Thera, Member of National Executive Council of the PNM and its Information and Publication Secretary of said that the path of the PNM cannot be tackled and obstructed by petit moves. He was delivering a lecture at a public seminar titled ‘Responsibility of the national movement in the face of foreign intervention’ at ‘Somro’ Reception Hall at Maharagama today (16th).

Originally the event was to be held at National Youth Centre at Maharagama, but the PNM was compelled to change the venue to Somro Hall after the original venue was not granted. Despite the poster that advertised the starting time of the seminar as 3.00 p.m., it was brought forward and started at 10.00 a.m. Despite the change of venue, over 3,000 people attended the event. Due to inadequate space in the new venue, the gathering was given seating facilities in the second floor of the building, where a wide digital video screen was set up for them. In addition, loudspeakers were installed for those who flocked around the hall.

Speaking at the seminar Ven. Dhambara Amila Thera said, “Patriots don’t need halls to meet, to discuss country’s issues or apprise the people. Denying a hall would not affect PNM even a wee bit. The forward march of the National movement cannot be stopped that way. Rough tactics cannot stop the correct path the National movement is taking.

The Patriotic National Movement was founded when Sri Lanka was a nursery of the foreign enemy forces. The Patriotic National Movement was founded not to be a tail of a crumbling regime but with far more noble aspirations,” pointed out the information Secretary of the PNM.

At the time the PNM was founded the UNP government in power then was on the verge of granting an interim administration to tiger organization and the treacherous ‘Regain Sri Lanka’ programme was about to be implemented said Ven. Amila Thero.

“Today heroic soldiers of our country are marching towards Mulaithivu and Killinochchi with greatest difficulties. However, the government has dissolved North Central and Sabaragamuwa Provincial councils and has called for elections. The people’s minds that should be towards defeating tiger terrorism are diverted towards some other direction. Small fragments of parties which hang on to the government to lick the bones that are discarded try to deceive the people without criticizing the sinister moves of the government,” said Ven. Dhambara Amila Thero.
Ven. Vilegoda Ariyadeva Thero made a special speech. Ms. Posia Thasi Hassan, Member of the Executive Committee of PNM and President of ‘Lakmawa Diyaniyo,’ Dr. Ms. Savithri Paulraj also addressed the seminar.

Unprecedented crowd at PNM seminar

‘Responsibilities of the National Movement in the face of foreign intervention’, the public seminar held by Patriotic National Movement at ‘Somro’ Reception Hall at Maharagama was attended by an unprecedentedly large crowd.

As there was no room in the hall the organizers had to arrange another hall upstairs with video facilities to accommodate the crowd. However when this hall too was filled up the crowd filled the road and lands around ‘Somro’ reception hall.

PNM will be purged after its National Convention scheduled for next 16th - Rev. Aththangane Rathanapala Thero

Steering committee member of the Patriotic National Movement Dr. Rev. Aththanangane Rathanapala Thero said that Patriotic National Movement will be purged when its National Convention is called on 16th of next month and it will move forward vigorously based on its initial objectives.

Rev. Aththangane Rathanapala Thero said that the National Executive Council of the Patriotic National Movement was scheduled to meet this evening, but as the situation there grew tense and was not suitable for a discussion, they withdrew from the venue and took this decision.

The Thero added that although all district representatives are invited to the National Executive Council meeting. They were not allowed to participate at today's meeting.

Rev. Dambara Amila Thero, Propaganda Secretary of the PNM

Rev. Dambara Amila Thero said that all members had not been notified about today's meeting and only a few known to be loyal to them had been informed. However all district representatives had come for the Executive Council meeting, but they were denied entry and only five of them were allowed to attend the meeting. They did so to seem to be democratic and to make the majority on their side.

Rev. Amila Thero said that the atmosphere at today's Patriotic National Movement meeting was not as usual with certain members under the influence of liquor and there were people with arms inside the room.

"We cannot let anyone to vitiate the morality and democracy of the National Movement. There should ne no room for personal objectives. Attempts are being made to prostitute the National Movement will move forward with its true leadership for the accomplishment of the aspirations of the country" Rev. Dambara Amila Thero said.

Call the General Convention and the Executive Council of the patriotic National Movement forth with Members and leaders of PNM force its Chairman

Members and leaders of the Patriotic National Movement force its Chairmen Dr.Gunadasa Amarasekara to convence forth with its Executive Council and General Convention.

This was announced at a media briefing held in Colombo 14th May and it was attuned by archaeologist.  Rev. Dambara Amila Thero, members of the steering committee, members of the Executive Council and all members of the District committees.

Rev. Dambara Amila Thero said that using the resources of the PNM in programmes subsequent to the special statement made by Mr. Wimal weerawansa in the parliament on last 8th, Dr. Gunadasa Amarasekara making statements as the chaiman of the PNM in approval of the course of events and alignment of a few members of the PNM with dissident Wimal Weerawansa led to confusion among members of the PNM.

The Thero said that the dissident JVP MP's who left with Mr. Wimal Weerawansa after his special statement went straight to the office of the PNM and National organizer of the PNM Mr, Senarathna De Silva and Mr. Wasantha Bandara who addressed them are reported to have told "From now on PNM is your party". Rev. Dambara Amila Thero also said that Mr. Gunadasa Amarasekara in an artical written to a news paper has told that "The greatest victory achieved by the PNM is the defection of Mr.Wimal Weerawansa from JVP"

The Thero said that this sort of behaviour intensifies the confusion among members of the PNM and there fore the best way to solve this problem is for its chaiman Mr. Gunadasa Amarasekara to convence the National Executive Council. Forthwith Rev. Dambara Amila Thero added that the General Convention should be convened early if necessary to get any ideological derailments back on track and to reorganize the movement. The national movement translated the book "Confessions of an Economic Hit man" written by John Perkins. He says that conspiracies range from very simple ones to those that involve blood bath. PNM was organized to straggle against imperialist. We were able to stop the couße intended to make headway through Tsunami Relief Council and Interim Administration Through temporarily

It was a power full blow to the imperialists. We have the doubt that the chairman of the PNM Mr. Gunadasa Amarasekara has fallen prey to such a conspiracy due to his dependency on a minority without calling the national executive council. The struggle initiated by the PNM since its inception in 2003 has not achieved its prime objective "victory to the motherland". We believe that PNM should continue to exist and therefore demand that executive council should be convened forthwith to solve this problem, Rev. Dambara Amila Thero said.

Rev. Amila Thero said PNM has several battles to launch, but they have not made headway due to problems at home.

Rev. Dambara Amila Thero who emphasized that the attemts made by people like Rajitha Senarathna and Tissa Vitharana to introduce a package with both unitary and federal elements combined and the attempts to give land in the East to foreigners  should be defeated said that the sole objective of the PNM is to win real freedom for the motherland.

PNM launches Sinhala Translation of "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man"

Patriotic National Movement (PNM) organized the launching ceremony of the Sinhalese translation of John Perkin’s book "Confessions of an economic hit man" at Galle Face Hotel on the30th of last month. The ceremony for the launching of the translation by Educationalist Leelananda Gamachchi was attended by all pioneer members of the PNM.

John Perkins, who was an economic assassinator disguised as an economist and was maneuverd by the USA to develop its ‘empire’, spells out the savageness of the process.

Dr. Gunadasa Amarasekera, President of PNM addressing the gathering said imperialism is active in spheres of economy, culture and politics to gain mastery over the world. “Imperialism entraps countries in debt snare by their economic invasions. In 1977 our debt burden was not so heavy. However, after 30 years our debt burden is over Rs.2000 billion. This shows how imperialists act in the economic sphere.

The next front of imperialism is the cultural front. They, through cultural invasions, try to create an individual that would be suitable for them. For this they use the media intensively.

The next form of the imperialists is the political invasion. This is implemented by such statements and threats as “if action is taken to defeat tiger terrorists those responsible for such action would be taken before a war tribunal.”

Speaking further Dr. Amarasekera said, “There is a special background for John Perkins to create this book. The people in this country are capable of comprehending the substance of this book; our masses have the strength to change their destiny.”

The General Secretary of the PNM Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa addressing the gathering said, “Imperialists send such economic assassinators to our countries to carry out various undertakings. They become sources of wealth for western companies. Subsequently, those countries are pushed towards an abyss of debt. That’s what the kind of John Perkins did in various countries.  This is the 30 year history of Sri Lanka as well.”

Speaking further Mr. Weerawansa said, “What imperialists do next is make these countries their hostages. In doing so they are made total colonial slaves. For this they get organizations such as ‘Transparency International’ to issue reports declaring these countries as ‘failed states.’ On the pretext of administering the ‘failed state’ they intervene in the country and turn it into a complete colony of theirs,” said Mr. Weerawansa.  |Pics|
